Description

NGC 5033 is a spiral galaxy in Canes Venatici constellation.

It has apparent dimensions 10.7’x5’ and magnitude 10.8: its distance is 40 million light yeras and its diameter is 125000 light years, so it is slightly larger than Milky Way.

It is characterized by very pronounced spiral arms, especially in the outer parts where on the left side one can see like the begin of a tidal tail.

The galaxy core is compact and very bright: it is surrounded by thick dust lanes which connect to the spiral arms.
